Wayne Dietz

Wayne F. Dietz, President

Wayne has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry; combining, commercial underwriting and various claims positions with expertise in systems analysis and a modest knowledge of mainframe and personal computers from the user’s perspective. Approximately, twenty of his years were in management, including oversight of a $160,000,000 book of written premium. He was also the initiator of a medical cost containment product which saved the clients over two million dollars in the first year’s operation. He was responsible for the formation of two companies, for a prominent New Jersey insurer, which he successfully managed until he left the company in April of 1996. He is presently, CEO and Chairman of D&H Alternative Risk Solutions, Newton, NJ.

He was an integral part of the original formation of the Statewide Workers Compensation Fund now representing one of New Jersey’s largest municipal Joint Insurance Funds and the School Alliance Insurance Fund a Joint Insurance Fund for Boards of Education. He served 5 years on the claims automation sub-committee of the American Insurance Association. Former Gov. Thomas Kean appointed him as Vice Chairman of the New Jersey Automobile Full Insurance Underwriting Association where he served for 4 years.

Wayne is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and High Point University and a member of the Self Insurance Institute of America. He served as a member of New Jersey Assemblymen E. Scott Garrett’s Insurance Advisory Committee, he currently holds New Jersey Producer Licenses for Property & Casualty and Accident, Health & Sickness, a New York Property & Casualty Adjustor’s License, Delaware Casualty Adjuster’s License and he is in the process of obtaining his Associate in Risk Management from the I.I.A. Wayne is a member of the New Jersey Self Insurers Association and the NJ Risk and Insurance Management Society.

Wayne is a Commissioner and past Chairman for the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority. He is a member of the Lafayette Township Board of Education, and serves on the finance & personnel committees as well as other community based organizations.

Susan Hammer

Susan Hammer, CWCP, Vice President of Claims

Susan worked in the insurance industry since 1982 with over 20 years of hands-on New Jersey Workers’ Compensation claims adjusting experience. Susan has investigated, handled and supervised all matters of New Jersey Workers’ Compensation claims, including but not limited to: catastrophic losses, litigated files, 3rd party recovery losses, death claims, occupational disease claims, fraudulent claims.

Susan is the co-founder of D&H Alternative Risk Solutions and has supervised the T.P.A. claim department of D&H Alternative Risk Solutions since 1996. Susan is responsible for the integration of a managed care program with claims operation, implementation of new accounts, quality control and supervision and training of all claims personnel.

Prior to working in the insurance industry Susan managed the office of a prominent New Jersey Orthopedic Surgeon for over four years. There she acquired comprehensive knowledge of Orthopedics and medical billing and coding practices.

Susan continues her education by attending various medical, loss control and risk management courses and seminars. She holds Adjuster’s licenses in the States of New York and Delaware. She has also earned her Certified Workers Compensation Professional accreditation from the University of Michigan and her New Jersey Workers Compensation Professional certification from Rutgers University.

Arthur Gottheim, CPA

As Treasurer of the corporation, Arthur is an accountant in private practice since 1982 and has several clients in New York City, New Jersey and Long Island. He has extensive experience in the accounting business and clearly understands the needs and requirements of small and large businesses. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and has completed graduate studies at the University of California Los Angeles.

Robert Morrissey, Audit & Controls-Operations Manager

An outstanding career in audit and controls starting in 1987 with GAB Business Services Inc., where Bob was the chief auditor reporting to the CFO. Bob brings a wealth of experience and has initiated the controls and procedures for D&H Alternative Risk Solutions to assure sound financial and procedural practices. He is a member of his local planning board and Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Public Accountant. Bob received his BS degree from Fordham University and his MBA from St. Johns University

John T. Carrasco

Mr. John T. Carrasco, Director of Marketing/Customer Relations

John has worked in the industry for over 25 years and held the following positions for a major insurance provider; Director National Flood Program, Risk Manager/Insurance Administrator, Municipal Entity Field Representative. John also holds a New Jersey Producers license for Property, Casualty, Life, Accident, Health and Sickness. John brings to our staff management skills as well as maturity and experience. John is responsible for Marketing, Fieldwork, and Customer Relations.

John is a former Councilman and held the following positions with the National Flood Program; Director and Vice President, Flood Insurance Servicing Carriers Association of America; Member, Federal Emergency Management Agency National Flood Insurance Program, Vice Chairman 1992-94; Member, National Flood Insurance Marketing Committee; Member, National Flood Insurance Program Conference Planning Committee.

Paul T. Messerschmid

Mr. Paul T. Messerschmidt A.I.M., A.I.C., Manager of Casualty Claims

Paul has over 25 years experience in the insurance industry including claims handling, development of training programs and commercial underwriting for a regional insurance carrier. Paul has extensive knowledge in personal and commercial lines liability claims, with specialized training in litigated and non-litigated Title 59 claims. He has worked with defense counsel in over three hundred trials and successfully negotiated thousands of settlements. With trial experience in twelve states, Paul has effectively coordinated bulk settlement conferences with civil law judges at the state and federal levels.

Paul is a graduate of King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA with a BA in Criminal Justice. He holds Associate degrees in both Management and Claims from the Insurance Institute of America and a New Jersey Producers license for Property and Casualty. Paul also served as a liability sub-committee representative with the American Insurance Association in Washington, DC.

Janet Steyh

Ms. Janet Steyh, Senior Claims Representative/Unit Leader

Janet has over twelve years experience with NJ Workers’ Compensation claims investigation and handling. Janet has a medical office background, which provides insight on our more complicated injury claims. Her strengths include outstanding negotiating skills and communication.

Nancy Carrasco

Ms. Nancy Carrasco, Supervisor of Clerical/Office Manager

Nancy brings to D&H Alternative Risk Solutions over 15 years of management experience. Nancy oversees a team of support staff that plays an integral role in assisting our claim representatives focus on the management of a claim rather than the of the clerical duties of the claim. Nancy oversees all funding and check printing as well. Her superior organizational and management skills keep the D&H Alternative Risk Solutions team running as a well-oiled machine.
